Katy and Tyler met while working on the TV show Dexter in 2013. Their coworkers were always scheming to set them up since they both lived in Manhattan Beach and seemed to have a lot of things in common. It took a while for Tyler to muster up the courage to ask Katy for her number, and after a couple months he finally made the jump! Katy took her time, but eventually paid Tyler a visit while he was bartending at Fishbar on a late Sunday evening. Their connection was undeniable, but trying to maintain a professional relationship at work, kept their feelings under wrap until, well, they wrapped!
After Season 8 of Dexter, Katy and Tyler no longer worked together and started to hang out a lot more in their free time. After many outings to Summers and OB’s, beach days on 35th Street, and a fun-filled friends’ trip to Hacienda Iguana in Nicaragua, Katy and Tyler decided to make it official! In February 2014, they became a couple.
A lot has happened since then. Road trips to Scottsdale. Holidays with each other’s families. Trips to Caroga Lake in Upstate New York, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Nicaragua, Mexico. Camping in Big Sur, San Clemente, and the Sequoias. Winters spent snowboarding in Mammoth and Colorado. Big things like career changes, moving in together, and falling in love. Katy and Tyler knew they found their one—their best friend and life partner.
In June 2018, Katy and Tyler planned a trip to Las Gaviotas in Mexico with their friends Molly, Chad, Molly, and Danny to celebrate Molly Tempo’s graduating Nursing School (and passing her Boards!) and to celebrate Molly Youngblood’s birthday. They made reservations at a nice restaurant in Valle de Guadalupe called Deckman’s on Friday night. After they got dressed up and were looking their finest, Tyler suggested taking a group photo down by the water before going to dinner. He asked Molly if she would take a photo of he and Katy, and offered to take a photo of Molly and her husband Chad in return. While posing for a photo, Tyler turned Katy to face him and got down on one knee. She was so surprised and so excited she got weak in the knees (literally)! On June 22, 2018, Katy and Tyler were engaged to be wed.
We are extremely grateful for all of our friends and family who have supported us over the years. We are so excited to celebrate our wedding with all of you and can’t thank you enough for being a part of our big day.
